Is the Writer, as an artist, special, and if so, how?

Writer, Artist, special... words which writers themselves use to describe them (our) selves. As Atwood references in her book Negotiating with the Dead. Nikki a character in The Women in the Dunes "Saying you want to be a writer is no more than egotism, you want to distinguish between yourself and the puppets by making yourself a puppeteer" Is being special being a puppeteer? Would I use any of these words to describe myself?  Well, I am currently writing this blog, as my 1 follower can obviously see. Am I an artist? Plato once said that ‘art is imitation’ and that ‘art is a copy of a copy of a form’ what that means is, nothing is pure, even if you make something out of imagination, it is still not pure. It must have been reflected somewhere in the real word. Therefore, if reality is molded into imagination, imagination itself is not pure. It is a mirror image of the writers sub conscious, as the writer puts certain things to the back of their mind and bring it up as if it where their own. So what makes a writer special? If all imagination isn’t pure, then surely we are all able to tap into the creative parts of our mind and write. What makes the person special? The ability to create a chain reaction from the brain, throughout the body, onto the arm, hand, pen and finally paper? As blogs prove, you don’t need a three year course resulting in 18 grand debt to be able to write creatively. Am I special? Is everyone who picks up a pen or taps on a laptop special?  In my own way, yes. I am special,  I tap into the far reaches of my mind, like a past explorer, and find things that have happened, or that I have seen, that I have to ability to write down.

As the two songs show, there are certain people who are special writers and certain people who are "special" "writers"
